What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let the site remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how you use the platform. Mutually uses cookies and similar technologies — including local storage and analytics pixels — to power and improve our creator-matching network.

How We Use Cookies

We use cookies to: keep you authenticated to your Mutually account; remember your settings and preferences; measure feature usage so we can prioritise improvements; deliver relevant content inside the platform; protect against fraud and abuse; and process payments securely through our payment partners.

Types of Cookies We Use

Essential Cookies

Strictly necessary for Mutually to function. Cannot be disabled while using the service.

  • mutually_session — Maintains your authenticated session. Expires when you close your browser or after 30 days of inactivity.
  • mutually_essential — Records acceptance of essential cookies. Expires after 365 days.
  • csrf_token — Prevents cross-site request forgery attacks. Session only.
  • stripe_mid / stripe_sid — Required by Stripe to process payments securely. Set by Stripe; expires 1 year / session.

Analytics Cookies

Help us understand how creators use Mutually. All data is aggregated and anonymised before we review it.

  • mutually_analytics — Records your consent for analytics cookies. Expires after 365 days.
  • _ga — Google Analytics: distinguishes unique users. Expires after 2 years.

  • _ga_[ID] — Google Analytics 4 session state. Expires after 2 years.
  • _vercel_speed_insights — Measures real-user page-load performance via Vercel Speed Insights. Session only.

Marketing & Personalisation Cookies

Allow us to show relevant Mutually content on other platforms and measure the effectiveness of campaigns that bring new creators to the platform.

  • mutually_marketing — Records your consent for marketing and personalisation cookies. Expires after 365 days.
  • _fbp — Meta (Facebook) Pixel: measures conversions from Meta ads and enables retargeting. Expires after 90 days.
  • tt_pixel / _ttp — TikTok Pixel: measures installs and sign-ups originating from TikTok campaigns. Expires after 13 months.

Third-Party Services

Mutually integrates with services that may set their own cookies, including Google (authentication, analytics), Apple (Sign in with Apple), Stripe (payments), and Meta/TikTok (advertising measurement). We do not control third-party cookies. Please review each service's privacy and cookie policy for details.

Managing Your Preferences

Update your cookie preferences at any time:

  • Cookie banner: Re-open via the "Cookie Preferences" link at the bottom of the home page.
  • In-app: Settings → Privacy → Cookie Preferences.
  • Browser controls: Block or delete cookies through your browser's Settings menu. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent some features from working.
  • Opt-out tools: Visit youradchoices.ca (Canada) to opt out of interest-based advertising.

Disabling non-essential cookies will not prevent you from using Mutually, but some personalisation features may be limited.

Cookie Retention Periods

Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies expire after 24 hours to 2 years depending on their purpose, as documented in the table above. You can delete all cookies at any time through your browser settings.

Changes to This Policy

We may revise this policy when we introduce new features or change our cookie practices. Material changes will be communicated through the platform and the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Continued use of Mutually after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
